Special Mention on International WATCH DOCS Film Festival.


On December 18, the 11th International WATCH DOCS Film Festival. Human Rights in Film came to an end. During ten days of the festival, one of the two biggest human rights film events in the world, the audience watched almost 90 movies, which combined the concern for human beings with the art of filmmaking.
The Jury gave a Special Mention to “Pit No. 8”, a film about three Ukrainian children, whose childhood is slipping away before our eyes, but in whom we still see the spirit of resilience.

The Silver Nanook goes to "Pit No 8"

 "Pit No 8" by Marianna Kaat won the Silver Nanook at 2011 International Documentary Film Festival “Flahertiana” in the nomination Best Feature Documentary.
“Flahertiana” festival has been held in the Russian Siberian city of Perm since 1995 and it is the biggest documentary festival in Russia. It was named after noted US filmmaker Robert Flaherty, one of the founders and classics of the world documentary cinema.

Dokfilmile Lobotoomia auhind Arsenalsist

Moodunud nadalavahetusel loppenud Riia rahvusvahelisel filmifoorumil „Arsenals“ parimaks dokumentaalfilmiks Balti voistlusprogrammis tunnistati Juri Hastsevatski film „Lobotoomia“ (tootja Marianna Kaat/Baltic Film Production).

Avatud Eesti Fondi ja Eesti Filmi Sihtasutuse kaastoel valminud film paljastab, milliste votetega on Vene meedia 20 aasta valtel ohutanud konflikti Venemaa ja Gruusia vahel.
Varem on filmi rezissoor Juri Hastsevatski palvinud tunnustust mitmete Valgevene diktatuurireziimist konelevate filmide eest, millest tuntuim samuti Eestis toodetud „Kalinovski valjak“ (2007).

Lobotomy on CRONOGRAF in Chisinau

Documentary film  "Lobotomy" produced by Baltic Film Production in co-production with Free Pro Video Institute (Germany), Bramafilm (Belarus) and Belsat (Poland) and directed by Yury Khashchavatski   has received the Special Prize of the Jury and the Public Sympathy Prize at the International Documentary Film Festival CRONOGRAF in Chisinau, Moldova.

Dokumentaalfilm „Auk nr 8“ võitis kaks auhinda ühel festivalil

Marianna Kaadi dokumentaalfilm „Auk nr 8“ parjati USA-s toimunud Full Frame dokumentaalfilmide festivalil kahe auhinnaga. Film voitis Charles E. Guggenheimi Emerging Artist ja The Nicholas School Environmental auhinnad.
Full Frame dokumentaalfilmide festival toimus 14.-17. aprillini Durhamis, Pohja-Carolina osariigis USA-s.  Festivali erinevates programmides naidati kokku 99 filmi 23 riigist. Lisaks toimusid erinevad dokumentaalfilmidele puhendatud paneelid ja diskussioonid.

2011 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Awards

Durham, N.C. USA, - April 17, 2011 -– The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival has announced the 2011 Festival award recipients. 66 documentaries screened in the NEW DOCS Program were eligible. Juries and Full Frame audiences selected 9 titles as winners for 11 awards, including a special jury award and an honorable mention.  

Pit No. 8 (Auk nr 8), directed by Marianna Kaat, was given two awards:
Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award.
and The Nicholas School Environmental Award.

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is an annual international event dedicated to the theatrical exhibition of non-fiction cinema. Each spring Full Frame welcomes filmmakers and film lovers from around the world to historic downtown Durham, N.C., for a four-day, morning to midnight array of over 100 films as well as discussions, panels, and southern hospitality. Set within a four-block radius, the intimate festival landscape fosters community and conversation between filmmakers, film professionals and the general public.

Pit no 8 has won a special mention in Zagrebdox by the jury "Movies that matter" - http://www.zagrebdox.net/en/about-us/awards/.
Movies That Matter Award is designated for best film dealing with human rights issues.
